Senate president condemns ‘global silence’ over Israeli crimes 

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Monday voiced the Upper Chamber’s condemnation of Israeli occupation forces’ crimes against the Palestinians, as well as violations at Al Aqsa Mosque and worshippers.  

During a meeting of the Senate’s Palestine Committee, Fayez said that all Israeli measures related to the spatial and temporal division of Al Haram Al Sahrif are rejected, stressing the Kingdom’s stances in support of the Palestinian cause, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Criticising the “global silence” over the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians and Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian shrines, Fayez called for a unified Arab stance to support the Kingdom’s efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.

Senator Nayef Qadi, head of the panel, said that the Palestinian cause   is the core of regional instability, while the two-sate solution is the key to put an end for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment with the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites.

During the meeting, Awqaf Minister Mahammed Khalaileh said that the violations at Al Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla (prayer direction) of Muslims and the third holiest site in Islam, under the protection of the occupation forces contradict all international norms and conventions.

The recent assault against Al Aqsa is an unprecedented escalation, aiming at altering the status quo at Al Aqsa Mosque, which is rejected, he said, highlighting Jordan’s efforts to deter aggression, notably taking all diplomatic means to stop the incursions.

All employees at Al Aqsa Mosque belong to the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, which is affiliated with Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, in implementation to the Hashemite Custodianship, he said, emphasising that a number of the staff members were injured, and one of them has been listed in critical condition.
