Senate Jordanian-German Friendship Committee, GIZ discuss cooperation

AMMAN — The Senate Jordanian-German Friendship Committee and Country Director of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Michaela Baur held a meeting on Sunday, where Senator Wajih Owais, head of the panel, commended the “historical” relations between Amman and Berlin.
Owais commended the German support to the Kingdom, which is bearing the repercussions of hosting refugees fleeing conflicts in the region, highlighting the importance of enhancing cooperation, especially in the economic and environmental fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
For her part, Baur said that her country considers Jordan as one of the most important partners in the region and a strategic centre to implement development programmes in the region.
She noted that the work of GIZ, which has been operating in the Kingdom for 40 years, focuses on the water, employment, vocational training and education, environment and waste management sectors.
