AMMAN — Saudi Arabia on Sunday lifted the temporary ban on Jordan's sheep exports, according to a Ministry of Agriculture statement. This decision came after the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) declared the end of the outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Jordan and Saudi veterinary authorities' review of the measures taken by Jordan's Ministry of Agriculture to contain the disease.
The disease had affected cattle in a specific region, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
As a result of ongoing coordination, Jordan's name has been added to the platform for sheep import requests. Jordan had previously notified the international organisation about the outbreak following laboratory results confirming the presence of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in cattle farms in the Dhulail region.
