AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Wednesday held talks focused on activating mechanisms of joint Arab action and the latest regional developments.
Safadi and Aboul Gheit emphasised the necessity to scale up joint Arab action and activate a collective Arab role to resolve crises and to enhance regional security and stability, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Arab League will remain the umbrella of joint Arab action, Safadi said, reiterating the Kingdom’s advocative stance for the league to ramp up support.
Emphasising the centrality of Palestinian cause, Safadi and Aboul Gheit called for scaling up international and regional efforts to relaunch negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution; the sole way to a fair peace.
Talks also went over the outcomes of the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which was held a few days ago in Kuwait, in addition to the preparations for the upcoming Arab summit and efforts to resolve the crises in Syria, Yemen and Libya, and to support Iraq and Lebanon.
Aboul Gheit commended Jordan's active role within the League and the Arab action system, highlighting Amman’s key role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, to enhance regional security and stability.
He also lauded the Kingdom's supportive stance for the League, notably the high level of coordination, which helps the League address challenges and serve Arab interests.
