AMMAN — Eighteen underprivileged families in Balqa’s Southern Shouneh and Karak’s Ghor Al Safi Valley on Saturday received housing units as part of a Royal initiative to offer homes for underprivileged families.
Covering all the Kingdom’s governorates, the initiative was launched in 2005 in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives expressed in his meeting with dignitaries from Jordan’s governorates.
Under Royal directives, the government oversaw the construction and allocation of the housing units to impoverished households.
The initiative aims at providing a decent and stable life for beneficiaries in a healthy and safe environment and improving their living condition. The families are chosen in accordance with criteria adopted by the Ministry of Social Development.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, handed over the keys of 18 fully-equipped and furnished residences to the beneficiaries during a ceremony attended by top ranking officials, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Issawi, in press remarks, said that Royal initiatives reflect His Majesty’s vision that focusses on providing the best for citizens, improving their living conditions and enhancing their role in serving their communities, stressing that underprivileged families are the centre of His Majesty’s attention who always issues directives to ensure their well-being, attend to their needs and financially empower them.
