Royal Court chief receives senior UN official

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh on Monday received UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos, who is visiting the Kingdom as part of a regional tour to check on the condition of Syrian refugees.
Tarawneh briefed Amos on Jordan’s humanitarian assistance to refugees and the resulting impact on the country’s service sector, resources and infrastructure, especially in the northern governorates.
Tarawneh also voiced Jordan’s thanks to the UN for its assistance to the Kingdom in handling the refugee crisis.
For her part, Amos commended the level of cooperation and coordination between Jordan and the UN, pledging continued assistance to the Kingdom.
