Relatively hot weather expected for Eid holiday

AMMAN — Relatively hot weather is forecast for Eid Al Adha holiday, when temperatures will be around the annual average during this time of year, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Sunday.

Ordinary summer weather will prevail in mountainous areas, while it will be hot at the Dead Sea and in Aqaba and the Jordan Valley during this week, meteorologist Ayman Suboh said.

Temperatures on Monday, the first day of Eid Al Adha, will be slightly higher than the annual average of 32ºC, Suboh said, noting that the weather will be relatively hot across the country and hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Daytime temperatures will be 33ºC, dropping to a low of 20ºC at night in Amman, while winds will be northwesterly moderate, according to the JMD.

Another slight drop in temperatures is forecast for Tuesday, when pleasant summer weather will prevail, the JMD said.

“Temperatures will be one degree below the annual average for this time of year. Ordinary summer weather will prevail across the country, but it will be relatively hot at the Dead Sea, and in Aqaba and the Jordan Valley,” Suboh told The Jordan Times.

On Wednesday, the weather will remain pleasant, but relatively hot at the Dead Sea, and in Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, according to the JMD weather forecaster, who noted that temperatures will also be slightly lower than the annual average during this time of the year.

Daytime temperatures will be 31ºC, dropping to a low of 19ºC in the capital and winds will be northwesterly moderate with high-altitude clouds also expected.

The meteorologist said the weather is expected to remain pleasant to relatively hot for the rest of the holiday, which continues through Thursday, calling on people to check the department’s weather updates on its website.
