AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday launched eight electronic services at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), which are part of the e-transformation project scheduled to conclude in 2020.
The services include clearance certificates for people, real estates and companies; documenting and archiving leases; issuing organisational chart; the first phase of the building code: Initial approval; request to build street hump; partial payments; and access to service cards through QR; the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
They also entail the official launch of already available services on smart phones, such as request to rehabilitate or substitute street lightning; tree pruning and request for providing garbage containers, among others.
Razzaz described having new 136 public transport busses in service by the end of the year as a qualitative leap, calling on stakeholders to connect the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Amman with Zarqa to have a more comprehensive transport system and to increase green areas in the capital.
The premier also highlighted the importance of implementing the “Pepsi pool” project and holding a meeting in the next two weeks to discuss final decisions to address the environmental problems at the site and changing it into a public park.
For his part, Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh said that all BRT tenders would be floated before the yearend, and that work would be further intensified during the next two years, resulting in traffic jams before concluding the scheme that is envisioned to address traffic flow in the capital.
The mayor added that GAM has plans to transform the Jubeiha Amusement Park into a public park and to benefit from two plots of lands donated by His Majesty King Abdullah in Muqabalin to increase the green area, referring to Royal initiatives to establish and develop 32 public parks in Amman.
