AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Tuesday approved two draft agreements for a grant and loan with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance buying Euro-5 diesel buses and electric buses — environment-friendly buses.

Under the envisioned agreements, 136 diesel buses will be bought through a loan of JD10.7 million and a grant of 8 million euros, while 15 electric buses will be bought through a loan of 5.5 million euros, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported citing a GAM statement.

During a virtual meeting of GAM, its council also approved signing an agreement to appoint a consultation company to offer supervision service to cover the cesspit, known as the “Pepsi Pool” in the Ruseifa area, upon the request of the bank, through providing a grant of 600,000 euros.

The council also approved signing an agreement between the German Development Bank and the Planning Ministry to finance a project for solid waste management with a total of 15 million euros to build a mechanical-biological treatment facility.
