GENEVA — Senate President Abdur-Ra’uf S. Rawabdeh on Tuesday called on the international community to bear its responsibility in helping Jordan support refugees until they are able to return to their countries.
During his speech at the 131st meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Rawabdeh noted that Jordan is currently hosting 1.5 million Syrians, more than one-third of whom are refugees, despite its already limited resources.
He added that international support for refugees does not exceed 40 per cent of the hosting costs.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Rawabdeh met with Arab and international parliamentary representatives.
