AMMAN — Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday chaired the annual board of trustees meeting of the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA), where the attendees discussed the council’s past achievements and future plans.

During the meeting, the Queen stressed the importance of activating the royally decreed Domestic Violence Protection Law, according to a statement from Her Majesty's office.

She also inquired about meeting victims of domestic child abuse by video and about the progress and implementation process of this initiative.

The meeting highlighted the importance of getting all concerned parties to abide by the national framework, emphasising their need for collaboration in all matters of family welfare.

The Queen also discussed the need for improving the kindergarten criteria set by the council to include measures targeting early childhood development as recommended by the National Strategy for Human Resource Development.

Secretary General of the council, Fadel Al Homoud, underscored the importance of holding awareness meetings regarding the recently decreed Domestic Violence Protection Law and providing training to those responsible for its application.

The board also stressed the need to implement family counselling programmes run by adequately trained counsellors.

Established in 2001, the NCFA is a Queen Rania initiative that aims to help Jordanian families achieve a decent standard of stability and well-being.
