AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh awarded a group of commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the Public Security Directorate the first State Centenary Medal, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

His Majesty granted the medal to the PSD during the Kingdom’s celebrations of the Great Arab Revolt, Army Day and the Centenary of Public Security to honour their pioneering role in the nation’s elevation, progress and stability over the past hundred years.

Hawatmeh congratulated the awarded officials and all PSD personnel, recalling the sacrifices made by the personnel, retirees, and officers who died in the line of duty, who have given their lives for the homeland since the state’s establishment.

The PSD also handed the medal to the son of the deceased Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Awwad for the efforts he made throughout his service and until his death on duty.

The event was held at the PSD, in the presence of the assistant director of Public Security and a number of senior officers.
