AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, honorary president of Save the Children (SC) Jordan, on Sunday attended the organisation’s Ordinary General Assembly 2020 meeting, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The princess praised SC’s achievements in 2020, despite the great repercussions and challenges imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. The organisation was able to reach targeted children and their families and provide them with necessary support and mitigate any pandemic-related hardships, Princess Basma said.

The princess also commended the efforts of SC’s previous general assembly, expressing her confidence in the creativity of the new assembly, which will contribute to upgrading the organisation’s services and meeting the goals and aspirations of SC.

SC Jordan, a member of Save the Children International, was able to reach around 120,000 children, teenagers, women and families in 2020, SC CEO Diala Khumra said. She indicated that SC altered its programmes and approaches to be COVID-19 compliant.

Khumra noted that SC launched a virtual educational platform for early education, provided many vocational training programmes for their targeted groups, conducted virtual sessions for positive parenting, health practices, and others to train teachers, and worked with target families in various regions, including refugee camps within the Kingdom.
