AMMAN — Save the Children Jordan on Sunday held its General Assembly Meeting chaired by HRH Princess Basma, in which the members discussed the organisation’s achievements over the past year and its regional and international future plans, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
At the event, Princess Basma stressed the importance of the programmes and services provided by the organisation that aim to improve the living conditions, health and education of children, in line with the efforts exerted by national institutions.
Founded in 1974, Save the Children provides services in the fields of education, health, poverty reduction and children’s rights. It also helps youth and women to secure a source of income in order to provide decent living conditions for their families, according to the organisation’s website.
For her part, Save the Children Jordan CEO Rania Malki said that the organisation last year reached a budget of $33 million and has helped 378,000 children and families across the Kingdom in host communities and refugee camps.
She noted that Save the Children has provided services to more than 1.2 million children in Jordan since the start of the Syrian crisis.
The meeting also witnessed the election of a new Board of Directors for the next two years.
