Prince Mired urges efforts to serve deaf community

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat on Wednesday attended the “Arab Gathering for the Interpreters of Sign Language” under the theme “Your Voice is My Language”.
The Jordanian Woman Development Association for the Deaf organised the event in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD). Thneibat was deputising for Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
During the gathering, HH Prince Mired, HCD president, said it is necessary to create specialised programmes to improve the conditions of deaf people and integrate them into society.
He said the HCD focuses on holding a proficiency exam for sign language interpreters.
