‘HCD working to improve services for deaf community’

AMMAN — The Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities’ (HCD) southern region director, Manar Madanat, said on Saturday that the council is cooperating with universities and government departments to support deaf people with sign language interpreters.
Speaking at a coordination meeting held in Karak, over 140km south of Amman, to improve joint work with the concerned authorities, Madanat said the HCD is also working on programmes to employ people with disabilities and integrate them into society. She said that 15 workshops aiming to serve people with disabilities were held in 2016.
