AMMAN — Public Security Directorate (PSD) Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah on Sunday met the UK Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Sir Philip Barton, at the Princess Basma Institute headed by the Women's Police, in the presence of the British Ambassador to Jordan Bridget Brind.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the security and policing fields, especially with regard to training and qualifying women in police work, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Maaytah stressed the PSD's keenness to consolidate strategic partnerships with various international bodies with the aim of improving security and police expertise, especially in technical and training aspects.

For his part, Barton praised the success of integrating Jordanian women in the security field, and the clear excellence they have achieved, especially in the work of police and civil defence, stressing the importance of cooperation and joint coordination to serve police and security processes.

The delegation toured the institute and watched a film about the establishment of the Women's Police Command and its duties in the PSD, in addition to its participation in international peacekeeping missions.
