AMMAN — The polar depression currently gripping the Kingdom has passed its peak although its effects are forecast to remain until Friday, Al Mamlaka TV reported, citing Arabia Weather.
The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) on Thursday said that Ajloun’s Ras Munif area saw 34 centimetres of snow, while in Amman it amounted to 22 centimetres in the Sports City region, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The JMD expected snowfall to continue until afternoon hours in the northern and central highlands, while in the southern region it would prevail until Friday morning.
The JMD also warned of slippery roads and low-visibility during periods of snowfall and due to strong winds.
In many parts of the Kingdom, frost and freezing conditions are expected in the late night hours.
Temperatures in Amman will range between 4°C during the day and 0°C at night on Thursday and Friday, and are projected to plummet between 7°C and 0°C on Saturday.
In Aqaba, temperatures are forecast to range between 15°C and 6°C on Thursday, and between 16°C and 6°C on Friday, according to the JMD.
