PM meets with King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia of Sweden

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday met King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, in the presence of HRH Prince Ali and HRH Princess Rym  Ali.

Khasawneh highlighted the "distinguished" nature of Jordanian-Swedish relations and expressed keenness to advance cooperation, emphasising the importance of King Carl's visit to Jordan in enhancing  bilateral relations. 

The premier also commended Sweden's role at the regional and global levels, noting that "Jordan looks forward to Sweden's presidency of the EU early next year, a move that will strengthen cooperation with the EU and boost bilateral relations", according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The available cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of investment, education, vocational training, water treatment, renewable energy, and transportation, were discussed.

Talks also went over the comprehensive modernisation project led by His Majesty King Abdullah, including  the political, economic and administrative  tracks, which aims to better serve citizens and investors, support the economy and the private sector, as well as enhance citizens' participation in political and partisan life. 

Khasawneh also highlighted the government's efforts to address the impacts of hosting Syrian refugees on infrastructure, education and healthcare, in addition to the repercussions of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis which resulted in increased food prices.

King Carl XVI said that meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah has been fruitful, emphasising the “solid, friendly relations” between both countries,  urging the two governments to build on bilateral ties, Petra reported.

He also drew attention to Jordan's key global and regional role and lauded Amman's steps towards modernising the economic and investment climate.
