Philippines envoy praises Jordan’s anti-virus measures, ‘deep-rooted’ ties

AMMAN — Ambassador of the Philippines to Jordan Akmad Sakkam on Saturday lauded the Kingdom’s “exceptional” anti-coronavirus measures.
On the occasion of the 122nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the envoy highlighted the two countries’ “deep-rooted” ties in various fields, noting that the large number of Filipinos residing in the Kingdom reflects the countries’ “solid” mutual relations.
He also touched on the active cooperation and continuous coordination regarding various issues of common interest, notably enhancing peace and dialogue, in addition to human rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The celebration of this year’s independence day, themed “Towards a Free, United and Safe Nation”, opens up the opportunity to unite the two nations’ resources and individual efforts for the common good, notably in fighting the coronavirus pandemic, he said.
