PDTRA launches second early warning system to enhance emergency preparedness

AMMAN — Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) on Wednesday launched its second early warning system in collaboration with the Municipal Support Programme funded by the USAID. The primary objective of the system is to proactively mitigate the risks associated with various weather emergencies, particularly flash floods, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The initiative aims to safeguard the well-being of citizens, tourists, archaeological sites, and both public and private assets. Hamzeh Alyani, the Commissioner of Infrastructure and Investment at PDTRA, stressed that the implementation of this second early warning system reflected the authority's commitment to enhancing institutional capabilities and mitigating the impact of disasters and climate-related risks.
