AMMAN — The National Aid Fund (NAF) on Sunday will begin transferring financial assistance to some 35,000 additional families of daily wage workers through e-wallets, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
NAF Director General Omar Mashagbeh on Saturday said that the fund will send text messages to some 33,000 new families, the fifth batch of beneficiaries of the government’s programme designated to support daily wage workers, calling on them to open e-wallets to receive the assistance.
A total of 190,000 households, including the fifth batch, have received text messages to inform them of the government assistance, while the number of families receiving government cash support is set to reach about 155,000 families, he said.
The fund will make an announcement concerning the rest of the daily wage workers who are eligible for assistance before Eid Al Fitr, he added, pointing out that the number of beneficiaries will exceed 200,000 families in the programme’s first stage.
Himmat Watan Fund’s donations have contributed in delivering cash assistance to daily workers’ families, as the committee tasked with managing the fund has allocated JD27 million to the NAF to implement the government’s programme designated to support daily wage workers affected by the lockdown imposed to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus, the director general noted.
