Gov’t to distribute cash assistance to 32,000 families this week

AMMAN — The National Aid Fund (NAF) will begin transferring financial assistance to some 22,000 families of daily wage workers through e-wallets on Monday.
NAF Director General Omar Mashaqbeh told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the 22,000 households, representing the sixth and most recent batch of beneficiaries of a programme to support daily wage workers during the COVID-19 crisis.
The NAF is also scheduled to transfer cash assistance on Wednesday to around 10,000 additional families, he said, noting that the distribution is expected to be completed before Eid Al Fitr, with the number of beneficiaries reaching 200,000 families total in the first phase of the programme.
The Himmat Watan Fund’s donations have contributed in delivering cash assistance to daily wage workers’ families, as the committee managing the fund has allocated JD27 million to the NAF to implement this programme, Petra reported.
