AMMAN — Nablus's acting governor Ghassan Daghlas honoured on Tuesday the leadership and medical staff of the Jordan Field Hospital "Nablus/1", in recognition of their service to the Palestinian people.

The ceremony was attended by Mahmoud Aloul, deputy chairman of President Mahmoud Abbas's Fateh movement,  Nablus Mayor Sami Hijjawi, the commander of the Jordan Field Hospital "Nablus/1"  Col. Raed Jabour, the directors of the Palestinian security agencies and members of the executive and advisory councils of the Nablus governorate, according to Al Mamlaka TV.

Daghlas praised the hospital, which was set up near the tomb of the Jordanian martyrs who died for Palestine in 1967, as a symbol of the brotherhood and solidarity between Jordan and Palestine.

Aloul expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and dedication of the hospital staff, who have demonstrated their skills and knowledge, adding that they have provided vital medical services to the Palestinians during the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Jabour said that the hospital staff has been working “tirelessly” with all resources to offer high-quality care for the Palestinians in Nablus. He added that the hospital was established on November 23 in 72 hours, upon directives from His Majesty King Abdullah, and that it has served more than 35,000 patients and performed about 882 operations since then.

The field hospital is equipped with a medical team of various specialities and consists of seven trailers, two operation rooms, two intensive care units and 15 beds, in addition to a laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray lab, dentist clinic and sterilisation room, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Besides the field hospital in Nablus, Jordan is running two other field hospitals in war-torn Gaza, one was established in 2009 following the Israeli war on the besieged strip in 2008 and the other has been recently set in Gaza's second-largest city of Khan Yunis.

Jordan also runs general surgery stations in Jenin and Ramallah in the West Bank.
