AMMAN — The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Germany’s Agency for International Development (GIZ) have  discussed the inclusion of 20 municipalities, in addition to the Zaatari and Azraq camps, in a recycling project, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.

The project aims at establishing centres for collecting and sorting recyclable dry waste, at a cost of 16 million euros.

Hussein Mheidat, the director of councils at the ministry, said the ministry was waiting for the agency to amend some items in the agreement before beginning the project. Half of the workforce for the two-year project will be Jordanian and the other half must be Syrian, he added.

Mheidat also noted the ministry was negotiating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to rehabilitate and establish 20 recycling stations.
