AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Crown Prince Hussein, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar on Tuesday attended a celebration to honour young people participating in the “Opportunity Youth” programme, implemented by the Higher Population Council (HPC) in cooperation with the USAID-funded Tawasol Project.

Kawar, who is also chair of the HPC board of trustees, highlighted the importance of youth in the society, noting that empowering youth and acquainting them with the necessary knowledge in various fields is among the government’s top priorities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

HPC Secretary General Ablah Amawi said that the programme is part of the council’s efforts to shape a generation that is aware of the population and development issues, and supports national efforts aimed at realising and benefitting from population opportunities.
