Media watchdog calls for release of journalist
By JT - Feb 06,2017 - Last updated at Feb 06,2017
AMMAN — The Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) on Monday expressed its rejection of continuing the detention of journalist Amjad Mualla over a post on Facebook.
Mualla is accused of defaming and slandering the deputy overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Zaki Bani Rsheid. Although the detention was not related to a media case, the centre condemned the detention, according to a CDFJ statement.
However, CDFJ stressed its rejection of using social media outlets to spread rumours and slander, calling for a just trial for Mualla.
