Man arrested after allegedly firing shot at police patrol

AMMAN — A special Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly fired a shot in the direction of a police patrol in Zarqa.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Zarqa Police Department was notified of a fight taking place in front of a shop in Zarqa.
Upon the police patrol’s arrival at the scene, a person fired a shot towards the patrol and fled the scene, stealing a vehicle parked on the street, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, quoting a Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson.
No injuries were reported in the shooting incident, the spokesperson said.
The special CID team investigating the case later located and surrounded the suspect, where he surrendered and handed over the firearm in his possession as well as the stolen vehicle, the PSD spokesperson said.
