MADABA — The Greater Madaba Municipality has closed down a slaughterhouse for selling meat unfit for human consumption, Madaba Mayor Mustafa Maayah said Thursday.
He said municipality inspectors destroyed 50 kilogrammes of rotten meat, fined the owner and referred him to court.
The mayor added that inspectors noticed that the meat in the slaughterhouse had a strange colour, and did not have a label.
A vet inspected the meat and judged it to be rancid, Maayah added.
