Local revenues saw JD404m increase in 1st seven months of 2023

AMMAN — Local revenues saw an increase during the first seven months of 2023, reaching JD5.204 billion, which is a rise of JD404 million compared with the same period last year. The increase constitutes 59.4 per cent of what is estimated in the General Budget Law.
This increase is attributed to the increase in tax revenues by JD199.3 million and non-tax revenues by JD204.8 million.
Revenues from income tax and taxes on profits totalling JD227.5 million resulted from the improvement in taxpayers’ compliance to submit tax statements at fixed tax rates.
In terms of public expenditure, the central government’s total expenditure in the first seven months of this year stood at around JD6.156 billion compared with JD5.888 billion year to date.
The increase in government spending is due to current expenses which rose to JD366.8 million in comparison with last year.
The financial deficit decreased by JD80.7 million dropping to JD924.8 million compared with JD1,005 billion last year.
