Domestic revenues reached JD1.829b in Q1 2022 — Finance Ministry

AMMAN — Domestic revenues during the first quarter of 2022 witnessed a rise of JD32 million to JD1.829 billion compared with the same period of last year that registered JD1.797 billion, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday.

In a statement released by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry’s figures attributed the increase to the hike of tax collections increased by JD74.8 million, while non-tax revenues went down by JD42.8 million during the first quarter.

The increase in tax revenues was a result of hikes of income and sales taxes by JD69.6 million, which reflects the efforts of the ministry, represented by the Income and Sales Tax Department, in combating tax evasion and avoidance, the statement said.

The ministry added that public expenditures went up by JD78.5 million to JD2.204 billion in the January-March period of 2022 compared with the same quarter of 2021.

Jordan’s total public debt, after excluding the loans owed to the Social Security Investment Fund went down to 88.1 per cent of the estimated GDP for March compared with 89.5 per cent of the GDP of 2021.
