AMMAN — Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Thursday visited the Baptism Site and toured its historical landmarks and churches. Aoun expressed his admiration of the site and of the efforts exerted by the Kingdom to preserve this “human legacy”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Baptism Site Commission presented the Lebanese president with the commission’s plaque, the “Tree and friendship” book including popes’ visits to the sites, as well as sacred water from the site.
Tourism Minister Lina Annab said that Aoun’s visit, on the sidelines of the Arab summit, was a message for the Kingdom’s importance at the tourist, religious, heritage and cultural levels.
Commission Director Suleiman Farajat said that the visit added a touristic importance to the site’s religious value, which will contribute to enhancing the religious tourism between Jordan and Lebanon.
