AMMAN — Local media organisations, in cooperation with the Jordan Press Association (JPA), on Tuesday organised solidarity rallies to show support for His Majesty King Abdullah's stance against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.
During the rallies, journalists reaffirmed the Kingdom's firm commitment to protecting the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, especially the right to establish an independent state of their own with Jerusalem as its capital. They also reiterated Jordan's rejection of forced displacement, resettlement and the concept of an alternative homeland.
The participants underlined Jordan's historic and unwavering stance on Arab causes, in particular Palestine and Jerusalem.
Speakers at the rally also called for unity among the Jordanian people in support of the King in confronting Israeli schemes, stressing the critical role of the media in exposing Israeli actions and raising public awareness.
Raakan Saideh, JPA President, stressed the importance of the press as an essential tool to protect the nation, strengthen national unity and raise awareness on key issues. He stressed the role of the media in uniting the public behind Jordan's national message and in resisting any attempts to impose alternative solutions on the homeland.
Saideh also revealed that the syndicate is working on an interactive programme to further enhance the role of the Jordanian media. This initiative will include a series of activities aimed at strengthening the media's influence on the national dialogue, contributing to the formation of public opinion and promoting the Kingdom's message amid the challenges facing the region.
