AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bakery Owners Association and the representative of food industries in the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The memorandum includes a set of decisions pertaining to granting work permits to non-Jordanian workers at institutions and companies specialised in bakery products in exchange for employing Jordanian workers.
The memo affirmed that the employer must include non-Jordanian workers in a social security scheme after 30 days of entering the Kingdom. Within three months of signing the memorandum, the association and the representative of the bakery sector in the Jordan Chamber of Industry shall sign agreements with the Vocational Training Corporation, according to which Jordanian job seekers are trained to be employed in the sector.
The memorandum compels employers in this sector to register permanently on the electronic employment platform of the Ministry of Labour "Sajil" and announce available job opportunities.
