King praises outstanding performance of civil defence personnel during COVID-19 crisis

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday commended the professionalism of Civil Defence Department (CDD) personnel and their outstanding performance since the beginning of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis, praising their tireless work to serve citizens.
During a visit to the CDD, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah stressed the need to continue working with the same momentum, utilising all means to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and safeguard citizens, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty followed up on the implementation of the CDD plan to address the COVID-19 pandemic and checked on the quality of services provided to the public.
During the visit, the King was briefed on the medical services available to the public through mobile clinics.
His Majesty was briefed by Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh on the measures taken by the PSD since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which included supporting the CDD and bolstering its personnel to enhance response during this extraordinary period.
For his part, CDD Director Brig. Gen. Anwar Tarawneh spoke about the plans put in place since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, including an early warning system and effectively distributing and equipping ambulances to optimise their response to emergencies, according to the statement.
Brig. Gen. Tarawneh also noted cooperation with the Ministry of Health and other civil society organisations, which resulted in outfitting 210 ambulances with the necessary equipment to become mobile clinics, and underscored the efforts of five dedicated HAZMAT teams in sanitising over 4,000 locations and vehicles.
