King meets Australian army chief, leaves for Netherlands

Monarch due to meet with senior officials, address student meeting

AMMAN — Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Monday left the Kingdom for an official visit to The Netherlands, at an invitation of King Willem-Alexander.

During the visit, King Abdullah and Queen Rania will meet with the Dutch monarch and Queen Maxima, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty is also scheduled to hold discussions with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, President of the Dutch Senate Ankie Broekers-Knol and President of the House of Representatives Khadija Arib.

Meetings with representatives of security and defence organisations, as well as a group of business leaders are on the agenda. 

His Majesty will also be the keynote speaker at a meeting with Dutch and international students participating in the World Class The Hague programme, organised by the City of The Hague in cooperation with a number of Dutch universities.

HRH Prince Feisal was sworn in as Regent. 

Earlier in the day, King Abdullah received Chief of the Australian Army Lt. Gen. Angus John Campbell and reviewed military and defence cooperation between the two countries. 

The meeting, attended by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, also covered efforts exerted in the war on terrorism within a holistic approach, according to the Royal Court.
