July 30 announced public holiday in observance of Hijri New Year

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Sunday issued a circular declaring Saturday, July 30, a public holiday for ministries and public departments to observe the Islamic Hijri New Year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. This Muharram 1 marks 1444 lunar years since Prophet Mohammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina, known as the “Hijra”.
