Thursday announced public holiday to mark Hijri new year

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz has issued a circular declaring Thursday, August 20, a public holiday for ministries and public departments to observe the Islamic Hijri new year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
This Muharram 1 marks 1442 lunar years since Prophet Mohammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina, known as “hijra”.
