AMMAN — Head of the Jordanian Sports Inspection Force Col. Awwad Sharafat on Sunday voiced confidence in the organisation's role in security and protection at the 2022 World Cup hosted by Qatar.

Sharafat expressed keenness to implement Royal directives and extend all efforts towards the success of the World Cup.

“We pledge to continue to work as directed by His Majesty King Abdullah,” he said, expressing pride in representing Jordan at the event, which marks the first World Cup held in the Arab world.

Extending thanks to Director of Public Security Directorate Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah for his follow-up, Sharafat stressed that the Jordanian force has worked hand-in-hand with the World Cup Organising Committee since in developing security plans, according to a PSD statement.

The Jordanian force constitutes the largest percentage of security guards at the World Cup, he said, adding that some members of the Jordanian force previously worked as security staff at the FIFA Arab Cup held last year in Qatar.

Sharafat also commended Qatar's display of Arab generosity in hosting the 2022 World Cup.
