AMMAN — The seventh round of the Jordanian Expatriates Conference, organised by the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Businesspeople Association of Jordanian Expatriates (BAJE), will begin on Tuesday in Amman.

The event is held in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and the Jordan Investment Commission, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The conference will witness the participation of 250 expatriate and local businesspeople, and seek to sustain communication between them as well as keep them up to date on economic developments and achievements, JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa said.

Jordan currently needs joint efforts to overcome challenges and turn them into “real” opportunities, which would reflect on the national economy, Tabbaa said, adding that this requires expatriate businesspeople to invest in Jordan in job-creating projects of added value.

During its first session, the conference will shed light on the status of investment in Jordan with the aim of introducing expats to available opportunities and the most notable advantages and incentives provided to Jordanian investors, according to organisers.

The session will also tackle efforts towards reform, in addition to plans seeking to stimulate economic growth.

The second session will address expanding the scope of investment for expats in Jordan as well as corresponding challenges.

The third round will focus on success stories of Jordanian investments outside the Kingdom, shedding light on ways to benefit from these experiences and highlighting the role of expatriate businesspeople as ambassadors to their country, Petra said.

The fourth session will address the role of industrial estates and their benefits, while the fifth will tackle the role of diplomatic missions in promoting investment in Jordan and mitigating difficulties faced by expatriate businesspeople, according to Petra.

Through the sixth session, the JBA and the BAJE will launch an initiative to promote the re-localisation of investments.
