AMMAN — The Jordanian Embassy in London on Thursday organised a panel discussion at the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce’s (ABCC) headquarters on the “London Initiative” conference scheduled for February 28.

Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tareq Hammouri, ICT Minister Muthana Gharaibeh and Jordan’s Ambassador to the UK Omar Nahar, as well as many Jordanian expatriates and workers from different sectors representing the conference’s themes, attended the discussion.

During the discussion, Nahar stressed the role of Jordanian expatriates in attracting investment to Jordan and supporting the Jordanian economy, noting the importance of organising such discussions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministers said that Jordanian expatriates have an important role to play in supporting the economy, which they added was in line with the needs of Jordanian citizens, expatriates and foreign investors.

Shehadeh gave a presentation on the conference’s main themes and stressed the importance of following up on the outcomes.

For his part, Hammouri said that Jordan had introduced many economic reforms in order to attract investment and increase employment opportunities and exports.

Baroness Elizabeth Symons, the ABCC’s president, praised Jordan’s role in the region and described Jordan as a haven of security and stability in an unstable environment, as well as an example of political and economic reforms.
