Jordan sees 90% annual rainfall average

AMMAN — Downpours increased to 90 per cent of the Kingdom's long-term annual average of 8.1 billion cubic metres since the start of winter, totalling 113.1 per cent of rainfall recorded in 2022, the Ministry of Water announced on Monday.
The ministry said that the highest downpour of 35.2 millimetres (mm) was recorded in Irbid over the past 24 hours, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A total of 1.5 million cubic metres (mcm) was channelled into dams across the Kingdom, raising their storage to 118 mcm, about 41.9 per cent of their total capacity of 280.759 mcm, the ministry added.
