Jordan reaches 97.1% annual rainfall average

AMMAN — Jordan has reached 97.1 per cent of the country’s annual rainfall average of 8.1 billion cubic metres since the beginning of the season, a 122.2 per cent increase compared to the total rainfall recorded last year, the Water and Irrigation Ministry announced on Sunday. A total of 750,000 cubic metres of water entered the Kingdom’s dams from recent rainfall, bringing the dams’ storage to 120.5 million cubic metres (mcm), or 43 per cent of their total capacity of 280.759mcm.
