Jordan secures release of two nationals detained in Libya

AMMAN — Diplomatic and intelligence efforts exerted by Jordan over the past few months have helped secure the release of Jordanians Atef Barmawi and Ahmad Kheir Hawamdeh who were detained in Libya, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sabah Al Rafie.
The two arrived in Amman on Thursday, she said.

Jordanian Jawad Bdour, who was serving a prison term in Iraq, arrived in the Kingdom on Thursday after contacts between authorities in Amman and Baghdad concerning Jordanian prisoners, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sabah Al Rafie.
The government has urged Jordanians in the Iraqi region of Kurdistan to avoid areas of conflict and exercise extreme caution.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sabah Al Rafie on Thursday said the ministry is working around-the-clock to secure and facilitate the return of Jordanians, if they wish to do so, from Libya.
