AMMAN — Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Jordan’s security and Amman rejects any foreign interference in their internal affairs, Senate President Faisal Fayez said on Monday.

Heading a meeting of the Saudi-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee at the Upper House in the presence of Saudi Ambassador Nayef Sudairi, Fayez noted that Jordan is “strong” at the political and security levels despite the surrounding conflicts. However, the Kingdom faces economic challenges and needs the support of “brotherly” and friendly countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted the Senate president as saying.

The Senate president commended the continuous support Riyadh offers to help Amman overcome its challenges, appreciating the “vast” Saudi investments in the Kingdom, according to Petra.

For his part, Sudairi highlighted the importance of the Saudi-Jordanian Investment Fund in establishing vital projects in agricultural and health sectors and other fields, stressing that Riyadh always seeks to attract Jordanian workforce for their “professionalism”.

The diplomat also stressed that inviting Jordan to attend the G-20 summit that Saudi Arabia is scheduled to host in November is of “high importance”, noting that Amman’s attendance is vital due to its role in hosting thousands of refugees and being a “model” in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sudairi added that there will be assistance to Jordan through implementing more investment projects.
