Jordan to host Euro-Arab Border Security Conference on December 1

AMMAN — Jordan is scheduled to host the first Euro-Arab Border Security Conference on December 1. Organised by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC), which is affiliated to the Arab League, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the conference will witness the participation of 100 dignitaries, including senior representatives of border authorities from 44 Arab and EU countries.
Relevant bodies from the EU, including the European Commission and representatives of INTERPOL, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), will also take part in the event, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.
The conference aims to develop a dialogue on border security, prevent and combat migrant smuggling, human trafficking, cross-border crime, and terrorism. The conference is also meant to highlight the importance of building confidence and expanding networks between the border authorities in the two regions, mainly to handle common challenges.
