AMMAN — Monitoring and inspection teams from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) on Saturday closed 25 food establishments, suspended 33 others and destroyed 2,061 kilogrammes of food deemed unfit for human consumption during 467 inspection tours, according to the administration.
Large quantities of meat slaughtered outside of licensed slaughterhouses were seized, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, quoting JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat.
Operations involving the manual manufacturing of face masks from non-medical fabrics or used clothes in two apartments were shut down and machines that had produced about 1,000 masks were confiscated.
The teams also inspected 76 pharmacies and drug stores, some of which were closed and suspended for raising the specified price of masks and selling non-medical masks made of fabrics prepared for clothes.
The JFDA called on citizens to contact its WhatsApp number (0795632000) or its social media accounts, which are available 24 hours a day, to submit complaints or remarks regarding food, medicine or medical supplies.
