AMMAN — Troops in the Northern Military Zone on Wednesday foiled an infiltration attempt by drug smugglers who were in possession of narcotics while trying to enter the Kingdom, according to an official source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF). After noticing the group’s approach, troops applied the rules of engagement, forcing the suspects to retreat, the source said.

JAF personnel searched the area and found 348 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 803 Captagon pills and a Kalashnikov gun in addition to ammunition, which were transferred to the concerned authorities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday. The army has repeatedly warned that it will apply the necessary force to address any illegal attempts to cross the border in any direction, and schemes to harm Jordan and Jordanians.
