AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi on Monday saw off Hajj pilgrims travelling under a Royal makruma, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The makruma (Royal benefaction) is designated to the “children of martyrs and injured servicemen”. Issawi conveyed the King’s greetings to the pilgrims and his wishes for a safe pilgrimage. Hajj (the greater Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca) starts on Dhul Hijja 8, according to the Islamic lunar calendar, which coincides this year on August 30.
