Issawi meets with Jerash dignitaries, residents

AMMAN — Following Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who is also the head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Saturday met with dignitaries and residents of Jerash. 

The meeting, also attended by Adviser to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs Atef Hajaya, serves as a continuation of His Majesty King Abdullah's meeting with dignitaries and representatives of the governorate that was held on Wednesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, Issawi stressed King Abdullah's keenness to enhance communication with Jordanians across the Kingdom, listen to their demands and meet their needs whenever possible, in coordination with stakeholders. 

Saturday’s meeting came in compliance with Royal directives, to follow up on the Royal visit to the governorate last Wednesday, where His Majesty met with Jerash residents at the Royal Hashemite Court to complete talks about the governorate’s priorities, demands and needs, Issawi said.

In his speech during the meeting, Issawi referred to the implementation of a number of Royal initiative development and service projects in various areas of Jerash and its refugee camps.

Implementation of Royal initiatives is ongoing, with a focus on productive development projects to provide jobs for youth, Issawi said.

For their part, attendees commended His Majesty and HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s visit to Jerash to check on the needs of residents, also praising their directives to stakeholders to provide services needed in the northern governorate. 

The residents' demands included establishing economic and investment projects in all sectors in order to create jobs for young people and reduce youth unemployment. 

They also called for developing the tourism, agriculture, health, education, transport, service and commercial sectors in Jerash.

All demands and ideas will be added to the list of demands made during the Wednesday meeting before they are referred to the concerned institutions. The relevant entities will consider their implementation according to government priorities and potential plans and programmes, with the follow up of the Royal Court, Issawi said.
